Night-time in a quarter of Havana. A couple of men are playing a game of dominos while the women pass the time gossiping. Out of the blue, a man finds the granddaughter of Mercedes and Ramón at a park close by. It looks like she's been raped. The situation escalates, as chauvinist tendencies are incited to the point that a culprit must be found at any cost.

„Lorsque j'étais petit avec mes amis, quand on entendait les cris du Kankouran, on prenait tous la fuite, pour aller s'enfermer dans les maisons“. Djinn ou homme, le Kankouran apparaît, lors des cérémonies de circoncision, armé de coupe-coupe. Si les populations déplorent la perte de son pouvoir, Gabriel Gauchet qui a lui-même affronté le Kankouran, trouve qu'il fait encore peur, qu'il possède toujours puissance et force. En filmant cette richesse sacrée, Gabriel pose le problème de la perte de la culture."

“Be sure to have exhausted everything that is conveyed through motionlessness and silence!” (Jean-Luc Godard)

The film is a dark lyrical portrait of a pub and the people who linger in it. While they increasingly lose themselves into innermost thoughts, their perception of things starts mingling with surreal events.
